Dear Mr. Nathan:
On November 19, 2010 I was using a computer in the library. When I turned on one of the computers it was not working and this happened to other 5 computers.
This problem might not be important to you but for us students, we need to use the computers to work, but the computers are not enough and soe were broken also. This caused chaos in the computer secion in the library, because students need to fight for using a computer, I have observe this for 4 days alreasdy.
It would be nice, if this problem could be fixed as soon as possible by putting new computers with updated program in the library. If you need any additiuonal information please contact Walrisra Alamoudi, Grade 11B
Thank you for your concern,
Sincerely,
Walrisra Alamoudi

Persuasive essay: evaluating ads ( Viva Cuba Libre)
People cheering for joy, “Viva Cuba Libre”, raises up glasses of Bacardi, one of the most famous alcohol brands! “Bacardi celebrates the independence of Cuba”. Bacardi shows that they are able to compete with other alcoholic brands with peace and with no violence. They are targeting all adults who likes drinking, and celebrating. Bacardi uses black back-ground, and uses light color fonts to stand it out with the “main” picture, glass of Bacardi with lime in it. Since the main theme is celebration of independence, they put two Cuban army on the left, and two main modern people at the right cheering for independence. This ad proves that Bacardi is able to stand out above other alcohol drinks and ads, but they omitted some parts in the ad that are important, such as the price of the product in which could be easily changed.
This Bacardi ad shows many positive aspects such as its repetition. Since the whole ad is about cheering for liberty, they repeated word ‘Cuba Libre” which means Cuba liberty in Latin. The word Bacardi rum is also repeated many times in the ad, just incase for the people who never knew what Bacardi is. The composition of the ad is also very wisely used and chose. They used black colored background, but use bolded gold color font which stands-out and catches reader’s attention. The biggest picture there was just simply this glass of Bacardi rum with lime, and it could already tell us everything about the ad even though there are very less words.
This advertisement uses Pathos, logos, patriotism, and transfer as there advertising techniques. The ad itself attracts our feeling (pathos) because they told us the ingredient they used to drink during the celebration of independence. They also showed patriotism, such as the background, there are Cuban people and army celebrating their holiday and pride of Cuba.
There are lots of positive aspects about this ad but there are also some negative; the negative aspects are consists of omission, and diversion. In the case of omission, the description of the ad, they wrote the ingredients they use to make the rum they drank during the celebration, but they didn’t tell us how many percent of rum is needed and the percent of lime needed. The next negative aspect is the diversion in the ad. They used a very interesting historical scene about Cuba to drag our attention away from the negative flaws in the ad, such as the soldiers of Cuba cheering for their independence with the Bacardi rum.
Bacardi proves that they are able to compete and stand out against other alcoholic soft drinks. This ad does a good job in convincing the readers because of its interesting design and the given recipe for making the independence rum. To me, this ad is very attractive and convincing; it got less word, but big and clear pictures. I’m an adult and I saw this a, I would definitely try out this drink together with it’s given recipe. This ad still could improve if they could tell us its price and the exact percentage of rum and lime to put in order to make their independence rum. Overall, this ad done a very good job in catching people’s attention and most importantly, persuading people to buy their product.

Persuasive Essay: Evaluating Ads
The professional's choice... Direct to your door, adidas advertises their new product of football shoes in black and yellow editions. The purpose for adidas is to compete with other brand and to let the people know that there is a new product in the market. The adidas ad displays black and yellow soothing colors because the product that adidas are black and yellow. the ad also displays the two different shoes named Predator X and Adipure III and the black and yellow background shoes shows some kind of texture. The background is also not that bright which really shows the texture and kind of shoe it is. The pierces of both shoes are also displayed in the ad, the composition is also the good font which is easy to read and the color yellow is also appealing to the eyes and the background color black and yellow appeals to our eyes. This ad proves to the people that it is really approved by the professionals because it displays one of the names of the famous players; it also proves that pro-direct is the world's largest online soccer store.
I think this ad focused more on the products they are selling rather than the company themselves who are selling the product. The soothing color of the page provides attraction to the reader, which than makes the reader notice the product that the company is selling. If the reader’s attention was really grabbed and he/ she did not just browse through the magazine he or she may have also noticed the name and the price at which the product is being sold.
This ad also uses easy to read fonts and fonts with big sizes to attract the attention of the reader, the ad also uses phrases like “the world’s largest”, “the professionals choice” which really grab the reader’s attention. In the end the advertisement is trustable and you can buy the product from them.
To add more to their compelling ideas of advertising the ad also includes the persuading technique ethos and also Avante Garde. They used ethos because they mentioned one of the most famous football players and they are advertising his shoe. The ad also uses the persuading technique Avante Garde because in the ad the company pro-direct is selling shoes, therefore the ad is telling the reader that “you can be the first to have this shoes, order from us and we will deliver it direct to your home.
The advertisement also uses the persuading technique bandwagon and slogan. In the ad I found out they are like telling their reader’s that “have one and be like everyone else with this product.” Another persuading technique is slogan, in their ad they put catchy phrases at the top and bottom of the ad so that the first and last thing you will read is their slogan which is “the professional’s choice…Direct to your door.”
Now for the negative point that I found in this essay is the confusion for the football player’s name. I know that football Is a worldwide known sport but I don’t think everybody knows who Kaka is, so to make the ad more understandable, they should add pictures of him using the shoes so the add can be more convincing and persuasive.
In conclusion I think the ad is an average ad, if you tell me to rate it from 0-10 I would give the ad about 7. I gave only 7 out of 10 because I don’t think this ad will be effective in Asia because the products being sold in the ad is too expensive, but for the people who use pounds they might actually take a bit out of it. To convince reader’s even more try putting other persuading techniques the one which will really convince them to buy, maybe using bribery like adding a free football for every purchase of shoes.
evaluating advertisement
The world knows, what we wear reflects what we are. Accessories are one of them. Clothing shows what kind of person you are. Accessories add something on you. It helps add some kind of spice in expressing yourself. Accessories come in all shapes and sizes and the price is set accordingly. People in today’s world have this idea, that the more expensive the accessory the better their image. This is what “lily cut”, a diamond ring company has in its advertisement. The ad has a dark blue background. In the center, the ring is bright and stands out in the dark background. Under the ring is that name of the brand in italics, showing its elegance. This ad is targeted for people with exquisite lifestyle and I think it has done a good job. The concept is abstract but this product is too expensive for normal people.
I think that the ad fits the product. The background is dark blue. At the center is the ring that glows and stands out in that background. Under it is the name “Lily Cut” written in cursive showing classic style. The subtitle says, “Perfect design for unique cut”, which tries to tell that that they do a good job. No content is repeated. It’s a “pathos” type of ad It looks appealing and abstract for people with glamorous and expensive taste. It uses a “snob appeal” Strategy and the ad is good enough. They don’t use models as many products do, making their ad somewhat different.
This ad has tried to omit a lot of things. The ad doesn’t have any information of materials used, no guarantee or warranty. They don’t have the price too. Since it is a luxury product, it is obvious for ads to show the elegance of their product and divert people of thinking the product will be very expensive. “Lily Cut” had done the same.
I think that the ads composition fits the image of the product. They very layout of the ad gives an idea that it’s a luxury product. This is why it may not be able to fetch a large number of buyers. It is mainly targeted for so called “rich” people who take care of their image seriously. The “snob appeal” strategy they have used might prove to be useful. I found the slogan “perfect design for unique cut” dull and boring. It would be better if it was a catchy one like “you are what you wear”. Anyway, it might be not be a problem for people whose money is not a concern.

Persuasive Essay: Evaluating ad
As I scanned through the magazine, a picture of a soup-like thing grabbed my attention, with its word “100% lean meat and a full serving of vegetables.” The ad’s purpose is to let the product be known by the public. The ad’s description suggests that it suits working people who have no time to make breakfast. This ad, from “it’s amazing what soup can do,” effectively communicates that eating this soup gives full nutrients. However, the negative aspect of this ad is omission.
The soup ad’s features and words are persuasive because of its image which shows what is inside the soup, and 100% lean meat is a good attention grabber. It could be clearly seen that the repetition of the product name “Campbell’s Chunky” is all over the advertisement. Another phrase that is being repeated is 100% lean meat and full serving of vegetables. The word and phrase that are repeating make the audience attached to the ad and make them interested in the product.
The soup ad is also effectively persuasive because of using composition. Composition of this ad involves the white background which stands out the text and the picture of the product. The red color of the product itself makes the ad more attractive. It is important to use a good composition to make the ad look nicer and more persuasive.
To persuade the readers to buy the product, the ad uses association. Association is able to transfer the feeling of the readers toward the ad, and they will buy it. The ad taps into the audience feeling to make them hungry and yet, to buy the product. This ad is logos type, it uses facts: 100% lean meat and 1/2 cup of vegetables in 1 cup of soup. This information shows that the soup is full of nutrients and is perfect for those workers with rush hours in the morning. Another means of association include plain folks and patriotism.
For plain folks as the target audience is working people with no time to make breakfast, they are ordinary people so plain folks suit the ad. The ad is also patriotism because this product is one of the sponsors of “The NFL or National Football League.” This simple statement could make fans of the league interested in the ad.
This ad is not persuasive because it omits negative information about the price and certification from FDA. The price might not be important, but this ad doesn’t put any certification and make the product looks not safety. The ad diverse the attention of the audience to the repetition word and phrase of the ad, so the audience will not be thinking of any certification any way.
The soup ad can persuade the target audience because of its information and picture which was well presented on the ad. This ad can be improved by putting the certification from FDA to make the product looks safe and more reliable. This ad is a good ex maple of effective persuasive ad because of the repetition but could be better if the omitting of if negative information is canceled.

Computer Addiction (EDITED)
According to statistics done by xxms.org - most teenagers spent around 64% of their time on computer. I myself and most of the people around me are facing this problem unconsciously too. One main cause to this addiction is, just barely spending time playing computer everyday rather than doing other stuffs, after few weeks/months, that person will be addicted. This problem affects our studies, work, and also our health in many ways throughout different people (Harvard Mental Health, 1999). By using the correct method, this problem can be solved in servera ways such as, controlling mentally, or according to Dr. Orzack, Behavior Therapy.
Most teenagers spend their time on computer either chatting or playing games and getting addicted to only one of these could lead to several effects. According to computeraddiction.com (2006) children's grade at school, social life at home, and even falling behind at work are mostly due to computer addictions. Addiction that this "level" are considered high level, and to cure this requires special therapy. Dr. Orzack of Harvard University believed that the most effective way is using behavior therapy. During the process, patient was helped by medication to improve the concentration and know what is more important. After few times of treatment, the patient should be able to control themselves later on in the future.
Physical and psychological symptoms could also occur due to computer addiction. Starting off, one will face psychological problems first; feeling empty, depressed, and irritable when one is not on computer. People could also neglect family or friends which could affect your social life, and of course, inability to stop. Following by is physical problems, by after playing computer too long, one will experience dry eyes, back aches, migraine, insomnias, or even eating irregularities which could heavily effect one's health. According to Clinical Psychiatry News (1997), all of these problems could be solved psychologically. Ways such as letting the patients know what is going on outside, and letting them do other things rather than computer. After few weeks of doing this, the patient should be able to resist the addiction successfully.
Most teenagers that noticed they falling to computer addictions had tried to resist them by just barely controlling the eagerness, as result, they failed. Professionals said that you should do other things too, rather than just barely controlling it. By doing all of the ways above shall help you get rid, or at least decrease the addiction to computer. This will help one to spend more time with friends/family, concentrate on work, and also lessen the academical problems in the future. Rather than spending the whole teenage life on computer learning nothing, use the correct way to cure this addiction easily, and help you in both your inside health and outside.

Spending too Much
You’re in your white house lying down on your water bed, you stomach rumbles you ring the bell beside you and the next thing you know a butler in a suit is delivering you favorite food to your bed. Ever imagined living like this? Well, in this essay the problem it will be talking about is spending too much, and I will also talk about the solution for that. Causes of spending too much is when one wants to fit in with other people and wants to buy all the new things. The effects of this may sometimes depress one for example, one is in a hurry to buy something one really wanted then after receiving it one finds out that it is not the exact thing that he/ she wanted. One of the best ways to solve this problem is to have determination, obedience and I will be also be talking about the 7 day challenge to stop spending a lot.
So you want to stop spending much and start saving more? There are many solutions to this problem but with all of those solutions there are also a lot of temptations to spend the money that you have. Things that will temp you to spend a lot are things like sale, credit cards, and cash in your wallet, most of the things you see. According to banknote.com (2010) by Laura Bruce (2007) it states that you have to find your own weakness in spending money. When you found your weakness that is when the limitations l will start. You have to start with having determination, obedience and a notebook.
This money diet consists of three main steps that will help one reach their goal in saving money. Step one, on the notebook you have to write on the notebook you everyday spending or let’s call them your needs. Examples of needs are food, transportation (if you have no car), load on your phone, allowance etc. when one knows all your spending calculate them and that will be the money one should spend on your calculations. One’s calculations could be daily, weekly, or monthly.
Once one has done step one then you move to step two which is like making allowance for yourself and one is not allowed to spend more than that amount of money. When you do this step be honest and don’t underestimate or overestimate yourself. The allowance that you should give yourself should be reasonable.
After the first two steps one will be ready to test whether or not one can do it. Step three’s objective is to have side money at the end of the day, week or month. If one had to go to the ATM it’s ok, just work on how not to do it next time.
One of my friends has a way of saving money. Students receive allowance daily, weekly or monthly, when one receives their allowance immediately put aside money. The side money should be at least 50% or more of one’s allowance, one is not allowed to spend their side money. So I suggest that you put it in your piggy bank or someplace where it’s hard to get. I put this method in the essay because I have tried it and I am one of the people who benefited from it.
The solution mentioned in this essay has benefited a lot of people. After the 7 day challenge most of the people who tried it were successful according to banknote.com (2010). In the second solution which is according to a close friend of mine, most of the friends who followed this method received 500-1000 baht in a half week, so it is a good way to save money. I suggest that one follows either one of these methods and you will benefit from it, and if the teenagers learn these methods early it would be good for them so they will easily gain money and think before buying so that money would not be wasted.

After few weeks of doing this, the patient should be able to resist the addiction successfully.
Most teenagers that noticed themselves falling to computer addictions had tired to resist them by just barely controlling the eagerness, as result, they failed.

Dealing with heartaches
Do you ever have hard times figuring out what in the world had happened after your girlfriend or boyfriend broke up with you? Most teenagers nowadays have problem on their love, mostly being dumped, and the big, big reason is the relationship is not working, there are effects on this it is that they can’t continue or concentrate on the activities that are going around them. This essay will gives ways to deal with break up such as, cut off contact, let it out, stay busy, stay single, and getting help.
According to love-session.com (2006, love-session) two of the big main reasons of breaking up is “The relationship is not working well” and “I want to be independent”. These are two reasons why teenagers broke up because each and everyone has their own world and thinking but they are not talking together and then “I think I want to be single”, then breaking up is the only solution at then. Another reason is stay alone is more free, Everyone can do anything they wish to, don’t have to care for another person, just to do in what he or she wants.
What comes after being dumped is heartaches, can’t concentrate on anything, try to forget him or her but it is very hard, the memories are stick in the brain. Here comes solution to these and other more problems. One solution that I tried and it works is cutting off contact, well cutting off contacts will make anyone who do a severe pain in the heart, but the truth is that one will realize that chances of getting back together is no more that is the end of the story. This will help one in long term, believe me.
Another solution to heartbroken is suggested from e how.com (2009, e.how) is that to let everything in that pain out. If you want to cry, then cry like waterfall. If you want to yell, then yell as loud as you can. By this way it will help the one who is having a severe pain to heal that pain faster because if one is crying until having no more tears to cry by then one, will feel much better because letting everything out.
One more bad solution that is not worthy to so is committed to suicide, before thinking to suicide think first does that person really worth for your life, think of one parents will they be proud or will they be happy to see their own child suicide because of love. If one is thinking of this it means that one is stupid to throw the life for just a guy or a girl that did not even love them. After following my advice one will be better for hundred percent I guaranteed that. Believe me those two solutions above me will give you the results that you’ll never regret.

console gaming addiction
“I completed the level!” that’s probably the first thing that teenagers say when they meet. Console gaming is considered as the main source of entertainment for youths. Being higly entertaining because of inch-perfect graphics and interesting story-line or gameplay, teenagers, especially boys, get hooked into it for hours everyday. This form of console gaming is highly addictive which affects their health, studies and their entire social life and the best solution might be self-realisation and find something else to do other than games.
Technology has been advancing everyday. Previously movies were probably considered the best entertainment source, if it was about virtual world where they have fictious characters, but games are the next generation entertainment where you can control your very own “virtual” character. This makes it very addictive and causes many problems. Due to this gamers start skipping meals. They might start stealing. Studies have proved that 2 hours of gaming is equal to taking 1 drag of cocain . they show tendency of neglecting their family and friends which affects their entire social life. as far as i know self-realization is the best possible- solution. according to http://www.howtogetridofstuffs.com/ (25th 2008) kids nowadays dont follow the elders. gamers must realize how much time they have been spending in games which affects their social behaviour like, makes them violent, etc, says serendipupdate, 2008. too much gaming causes students to be obese (ezinearticles.com). lying down with a pack of chips and a controller in hand certainly puts of weight on the player. exercing could help a lot. and by exercising it doesnt mean literally exercising. it just means doing some physical activity that the person likes - could be sports, dancing, etc. this way they will have physical exercise which helps to develop their social character as well. too much gaming is bad for eyes as well (as we all know) if gamers do want to play it would be best if they played in intervals. parents seem to be concerned on controlling their children to play games. they fix the time rate where they can play. but this isnt proving to be uselfull and it doesnt seem to be working.
gaming market is really large nowadays. every year high quality E3 games are produced which makes gamers hooked onto them for hours. this has been a concern for their parents. so they try to control their children, which hasnt been working. instead, this makes them agressive and their relation with the parents worsen. the best possible solution could be "self-realisation". being the best, it is also the hardest. gamers should realize how much they are spending, both money and time, how they are harming their physical health, how games are affecting their studies and their social relations. it they realise it properly, they might feel disgusted and i am certain that even thought they might not stop completely, they will definitely decrease the amount of gaming time.
